For the time being, this whole issue about Facebook’s interference in politics (no matter who the target could possibly be) seems as trying to take a walk on water during a cold winter night:
1. Facebook does not have any obligation for algorithmic accountability whatsoever
2. Users’ data are continuously influenced (deliberately or not, it is a whole different discussion) by numerous factors
3. Despite the reassurance for not tracking individuals, there is always a new loophole to watch out (see latest developments on how email lists and voter files are used by campaigners on Facebook)
More importantly, we are talking about unregulated waters.
Ideally, I reckon it should require much more than just a ‘promise’.
